New website for Trewithen Restaurant

This is one of our latest websites to go live and it is for a truly delicious restaurant in Lostwithiel, Cornwall, Trewithen. We started with the brand, creating a logo, and some elements of illustration, menu backs, business cards and bill holders. Then we came to the website.


Trewithen is the perfect balance of first class food with a friendly and personal service. The brand and website needed to reflect their quality, but also the approachable nature of the restaurant.

 To add to the brand, I drew a selection of forks showing the range of their fine dining, and we settled on a colour palette of silver grey and teal blue. The brand also picks up on the circle shape of a plate which we used throughout. 



With the brand in place the next stage was the website. This site is responsive so it will change to fit the format of the device it is viewed on, be that monitor, tablet or mobile.

 The website is beautiful designed to show off the lovely photographs conveying the atmosphere and food. We have large images that set the scene, these can be updated easily to keep the website fresh.

 The Home page has three feature boxes showing their suppliers, reviews and events. The Food and Drink pages have menus that the client can add themselves and the Contact page has an illustrated map. The website also allows them to add reviews, suppliers, events and alter all the text as and when. We have designed a website that will hopefully tempt people to come and try this truly special restaurant out for themselves, it has definitely got our taste buds going!

Buttermilk Shop wanted a fresh contemporary look for their Cornish fudge company, but essential in the brief was ensuring that their primary market was not alienated during the change. This is a challenge we face with many projects, as the years spent building up a customer base are not to be taken lightly. We came up with a clean typographic solution which could be placed onto different colours to reflect different flavours on the packaging. This is accompanied by a small line drawing, reflecting the Cornish coastline. The vector image is key to the connection between old and new, a crisp modern style of illustration representing the long tradition of Cornish fishing ports where the Buttermilk shops are located.

Twitter Background for Charity Bike Ride

Brand design has moved in new directions in recent years, and with the advent of mobile internet, promises to develop into ever new unexpected formats. Twitter has snowballed in recent months, and continuing our clients' visual identity here is also important. Above is the custom Twitter background that we created for Sean Maher's Twitter feed. It carries his brand for the charity bike ride, Riding Out The Recession, where he will be heading from Cornwall to Cape Town. It carries artwork from the website we are currently putting the finishing touches on, and his new logo. Make sure you keep an eye on his progress, we will put updates on our blogs and Sean will be both twittering and blogging as he travels.
